From Catch of the Day to Caribbean Curry: Where to Eat in Barbados

by | Sep 24, 2025

Barbados is a destination on many people’s bucket lists – and for very good reason. The white, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, welcoming and open people, and beautiful culture would be enough to attract anyone for a holiday. However, something that many travellers would only discover once they arrive in Barbados, is how incredible their local cuisine is. From fresh seafood to wood-fired pizzas to fine dining and cocktails, there really is something for everyone.

Here, we’ve compiled our list of our top restaurants, where you can experience the warm hospitality and mouth-watering food that this island is famous for!

The Fish Pot: This is a casual, beachfront restaurant which offers a relaxed atmosphere, but five-star dining. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, all overlooking the ocean, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Our recommendation? Head to the fish pot just before the sun starts to set, and enjoy a fresh “catch of the day” whilst the sun sinks below the horizon! It’s a truly breathtaking view.

Tides: Another restaurant with prime location – looking straight out onto the bright blue sea that Barbados is so famous for. Specialising in fresh seafood (both local, and imported), you’ll be sure to get a meal you absolutely love. Plus, Tides also boasts an excellent cocktail menu and a huge selection of rums, perfect for enjoying in the daytime sun, or as an after-dinner treat. They even have regular live music to enhance your experience even more. Definitely check out their website before you book, to ensure you know when the performances will be.

Champers: This fine-dining restaurant is well known in Bridgetown for some of the highest-quality food on the whole island. Plus, it even has an art gallery on site! Located right on the waterfront, you can pair picturesque scenery with delicious, authentic Caribbean dishes. What more could you ask for?

Lone Star: A perfectly located restaurant and hotel – found in the exclusive St James area. The view from this establishment is stunning, from your dining table you’ll see a long stretch of golden sand and tranquil waters. They offer a wide range of dishes, even including a British Sunday Roast and fresh, wood-fired pizzas.

The Cliff: One of the most picturesque restaurants you’ll ever visit – The Cliff offers fine dining, and even a private dining experience on the water’s edge, for those really special moments. With a wide range of dishes including an excellent sushi menu, this restaurant has something for every palette. Don’t forget to ask for a wine recommendation from their expert sommeliers to pair with your chosen meal, you won’t regret it!

Bajan Blue: Part of the beautiful Sandy Lane resort, this restaurant offers all-day dining with a spectacular view of the ocean, casual atmosphere and exceptional service. Their best offering, in our opinion, is the incredible Sunday Brunch buffet. For a set price, you get access to a generous selection of appetisers, salads, meats, vegetarian dishes, seafood, and homemade desserts. It’s worth every penny just for the view, then once you take into consideration the quality of the food, it’s an absolute must for your trip.

JPRESCOD

QP Bistro: This bistro offers a fusion of international and local flavours, all accompanied by their schedule of daily live music and performances. With a perfect ocean view and dishes from Wagyu Steak to Caribbean pumpkin curry, this restaurant really does tick every box.
